The last car to leave the old Saab factory
A Saab in mint condition. The last Saab that leaves the factory at Stallbacka industrial area in Trollhättan, Sweden during the NEVS ownership. This story almost sounds unreal, but it’s true and quite amazing.

One of the last 400 Saab’s
It’s almost too good to be true. But it is true! A brand-new Saab 9-3 Aero Saloon with only 70 kilometers on the meter. Yes, you read that right, only 70 kilometers! This Saab is one of the last 400 cars that were made by NEVS between 2013-2014 at the factory in Trollhättan, Sweden. And now the car will be auctioned off to the highest bidder, to promote charitable causes and make a Saab owner very happy.
This wasn’t something we wanted to miss on at Saab Original so our colleague Urban went over to NEVS to talk about this unique Saab, which offered us the special privilege to write about it here on our Saab Original Blog.
The car was supposed to be crash tested but was forgotten
This particular Saab 9-3 Aero has been with NEVS since 2014 when it was built. So this beauty is over 5 years old but still is almost brand-new. When we met NEVS and the photographer Peter Sundfeldt from Bilweb Auctions, the car had been driven only 62 kilometers, but after a few laps around the test track and a photo shoot later, the cars odometer said 70 kilometers. The car was meant to be used for crash tests, but for some reason was forgotten about and left just standing there in the factory in Trollhättan with nobody noticing. It was then luckily discovered and should be anything but crash tested!
Will be auctioned off online
Luckily for the Saab community, NEVS has decided to sell this last NEVS produced Saab 9-3 to the highest bidder and will therefore be auctioned off online in front of a global audience. So, this car will most likely belong to a real Saab enthusiast somewhere in the world very soon. The estimated price for the car is between 350 000 SEK to 450 000 SEK according to Bilweb Auctions, but it will probably be sold for a much higher price than that, if we know the Saab enthusiast’s like we do. The auction will take place in October on the website Bilweb Auctions. Keep an eye out if you are interested, so here is a link to the auction (opens in a new tab).
Money will go to charity
When the car has been sold, the money will go to a newly established charity called The NEVS Sustainable Mobility Scholarship and will be given out by NEVS in cooperation with the University West in Sweden. The prize will be given to a person who helps promote mobility solutions of the future. The last Saab that will ever leave the factory in Trollhättan will live on into the future, both in its self but also through this new prize.
About the Saab 9-3
The Saab 9-3 was produced between 1998-2015 and is one of the most popular Saab cars on the roads today. The car is suitable both as a daily used car for the family or as a first car for many young people, or also as a collector’s item for the more enthusiastic car owners. The sporty 9-3 Viggen became very popular among enthusiast’s, which we have also written about on our blog. You can read our story about the Saab 9-3 Viggen here (opens in a new tab).
New features on the NEVS produced Saab 9-3 MY 14 was mostly introduced in the engine compartment, where the car was equipped with A20NFT, a direct fuel injection system with turbo. The car also got new front seats as well as reinforcement details in the body and in the floor.
